Giveaway Day 2013

Congratulations to the winner, Katie Avalos, who left this comment:

“Every time I am looking at your projects online, my daughter asks “Are you going to make that for me?” Thanks for the great giveaway. I love the fabrics and buttons.”

I hope she makes something cute for her daughter!

It’s here again!  Giveaway Day, which has morphed into Giveaway Week, begins today and I’m jumping in.  There are TONS of giveaways, so I’d encourage you to visit Sew, Mama, Sew and enter as many as you’d like before it all ends on May 10th at 5 pm Pacific time.

GiveawayDayMay6

If you’re new to Crafty Staci, welcome!  I usually write about sewing and craft projects, recipes and end the week with a round-up of great projects I’ve found elsewhere.  I try to keep things fun and easy.

You can keep up with me at Facebook, Pinterest, Bloglovin’, Twitter, Instagram, StumbleUpon, and Flickr.  I write at Squidoo and I have an Etsy shop at CraftyStaci.

Enough about me, let’s talk giveaway!  Since I just gave away a handmade item for my blog’s anniversary, I decided to go with supplies this time.

Giveaway Day 2013 - Crafty Staci

The winner, by random drawing, will receive five coordinating fat quarters, each 18 by 21 inches, and three large buttons.  This giveaway is open internationally, but please verify that shipping fabric from the U.S. to your country is allowed before entering.

Giveaway Day 2013 - Crafty Staci 2

To enter, simply leave a comment here.  My favorites are funny or inspiring.  It won’t increase your chances of winning, but it will make my week better and I’ll be eternally grateful.  Ready?  Go!

  30. Back in my single days, my girlfriends and I used to put on fake accents when we would go out – just for fun, and to see how long we could keep a guy thinking we were from somewhere else. One evening I put on my best British accent and walked up to a gorgeous hunk of a man and introduced myself as a traveling visitor from across the pond.

He turns, and out of his mouth comes the most perfect, beautiful – should do voice overs hunka-hunka-yum-yum, English accent you’ve ever heard.

    (doh!)

He asked where in England I was from.

    I told him Manchester.

He smiled, and said…. “You’re very cute, but you’re a terrible liar. I’m from Manchester, and your accent is all wrong!”

Hmmm, lemme see. I love humour too, so I hope this makes you smile. Our border collie boy is about 1.5 years old. Since he was a tiny pup he would have a very strange way of asking for scritches. He would stand in front of you, lie the front of his body down on the ground, twisted to the one side with his butt up in the air. Then when you scratch his bum, he does this head-over-heels tumble to finally reveal his belly. The only time he ever just lies down and rolls over is when he is super sleepy. Otherwise it’s the strange butt-in-air ritual. He’s a special boy like that – hehehe.

  121. Love the giveaway. Thank you so much.
It is too early for me to be funny– but inspiring?Ummm-Someone told me that when things get me down-not to think about yesterday because that day has came and gone. Don’t think about tomorrow because tomorrow may never come. Just live for today and take each minute as it comes. This has helped me get through some difficult times.

  163. I’d love to win.. Most of my inspiring or funny moments are courtesy of my two dogs. One dog (Reilly) has an incredibly mellow personality – nothing bugs him, and he’s just so easy-going. The other (Baxter) is really nervous and high-strung. Reilly just likes to lounge around, while Baxter is always moving. “His motto for life: why walk when you can run, why stand when you can bounce…” So… you know the phrase “just because you’re easy-going, it doesn’t mean you should let people walk all over you”… well.. that’s what Baxter was doing to Reilly this morning. Jumping over him, (and sometimes mis-calculating, and landing on him).. all while Reilly just laid there, being calm and content. I wish I could be so mellow – especially in the morning when I’m running out the door to head to work! My dogs always make me grin – hope my story made you grin too!

  164. Funny? Parenting three under 5 is always funny and entertaining. This one was from nearly 2 years ago.

On the way to my parents’ place out in farming country, Ian (almost 4) was looking out the window.
    “Mom, what are those wires?”
I thought he meant the barbed wire fence, so I said, “That’s for keeping the cows in the field.”
“Oh, do they use the wires to launch the cows into the field?”
Turns out he meant the power lines…

When I got over my hysterical giggles, we talked about how painful it would be for the poor cows to be “launched” into a field using power lines. Next solution, “Well, the farmer should just launch them into the barn then!”

Thanks for the chance! I have two giveaways happening too: http://www.craftyhour.com

Following World Book Night, in which books are given away by volunteers to “reluctant readers”, I have been giving books to homeless people. It is amazing how much the interactions have taught me about how I usually don’t “see” the people around me, especially those whom I avoid looking at, to be quite honest. Handing a book to someone, discussing it for a few minutes, is really causing me to see them as someone’s son, brother, former student, etc. I am getting far more out of this than what I’m giving.

She’d planned for just about everything that could possibly go wrong and the other two bridesmaids and I had a whole load of stuff filling our small handbags for her (make up, pads, tissues, hairbrush, sewing kit, hayfever and indigestion tablets, toothbrush and toothpaste etc). And then one she hadn’t planned for and won’t hear about until they get back from honeymoon – two classic cars were booked to take her and her dad and the 3 bridesmaids to the church. Apparently the Rolls broke down on the way and had to be jump started by the Bentley!
